Cake Decorating Essentials

Don't know which end of the pastry bag is up? In this class learn how to make decorator icing, frost a cake, pipe borders and flowers, then create a custom decorated cake to wow your family and friends.  You may never buy a bakery cake again.  Cakes, icing and decorating tools are provided for use in class.  Good for any age over 12.
 
Cake Decorating the Wilton Way
Four 2 hour sessions

Learn the essentials and more in these 4 lesson cake decorating classes. Course 1 skills include  borders, figure piping, pattern transfer and ROSES.
Course 2 includes basketweave, royal icing flowers and color flow.
Course 3 includes fondant and tiered cakes.
Class fee included full color lesson plan and Wilton Certificate of Completion
Students must provide icing, cakes, and purchase basic decorating kit for each course. 
 
Icings Workshop

Can't bake from scratch? Don't worry. Learn how to make decorator icing, stabilized whipped cream and 2 different buttercreams to make that boxed cake taste just like homemade.

Meet our  Instructor

Lori Parrett

Both owner and Lead Instructor at Cakewalk Chicago Chef Lori has been decorating professionally for over 6 years.  A certified pastry chef, Lori is trained by Wilton Industries and the Cooking Academy of Chicago. 

Lori loves working in the kitchen and is enthusiastic about sharing her skills with  with others.  

With 5 years of teaching cake decorating, baking, and candy making and cooking skills under her belt Lori has taught over 500 students. 

She is the Catering Manager for Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, freelance decorator for the Wilton Yearbook, frequent guest instructor at Sur La Table, an ICES member, and founder of the Cake Club of Chicago.

How to Schedule a Class
Cakewalk Chicago  offers culinary entertainment to celebrate showers, birthdays, anniversaries, or any occasion that includes food and friends.  Classes are held in your home, church, or conference room on the day or evening of your choice. Prices listed are per person.  Mininum number of students required to hold class is 4.  

Depending on availability and required facilities you have the option of conducting the class at the Cakewalk Chicago  retail store or hosting the class in your own home.
